Frequently Asked Questions

Are all these calculators free with no signup required?

Yes — every calculator listed is 100% free, requires no account, and has no usage limits. They run entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server.

What is the BMI formula and what do the numbers mean?

BMI = weight(kg) / height(m)². WHO classification: Under 18.5 = Underweight, 18.5–24.9 = Normal weight, 25–29.9 = Overweight, 30+ = Obese. BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnostic — a high BMI can indicate excess body fat but doesn't account for muscle mass.

How do I calculate a percentage change?

Percentage change = ((New Value − Old Value) / |Old Value|) × 100. A positive result means an increase; negative means a decrease. Example: price went from $80 to $100 → ((100 − 80) / 80) × 100 = 25% increase. Use the Percentage Calculator to solve this without the formula.

What is compound interest and how is it different from simple interest?

Simple interest earns interest only on the principal. Compound interest earns interest on both the principal AND previously earned interest, causing exponential growth. Formula: A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt) where P = principal, r = annual rate, n = compounding periods per year, t = years. Daily compounding grows faster than monthly, which grows faster than annual.

How is overtime pay calculated under US law?

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees must receive 1.5× their regular hourly rate for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Some states (like California) also require daily overtime for hours over 8 in a day. Overtime Pay = Regular Hours × Rate + Overtime Hours × (Rate × 1.5).
